MIAMI, FL -- Police in Miami say a 56-year-old Head Start preschool teacher accused of hitting and kicking his young students is facing criminal charges.
Jean E. Dorvil has been charged with aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm, three charges of battery and two charges of child abuse with no harm. He is being held in jail without bond.
A 5-year-old told investigators that Dorvil kicked her in the face while students were supposed to be napping. The girl had gone to the restroom without permission.
The girl's mother said she came home from Charles R. Drew Elementary School with blood on her shirt.
Two boys were also interviewed by detectives. They told authorities that Dorvil had also kicked them earlier in the school year.
