Wanted: Original works of art by artists on the autism spectrum
The Center for Autism Research (CAR) is a new endeavor at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. We are creating an art gallery in the hall leading to our Center, which will feature artists on the autism spectrum. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be interested. Art must be created on an 11-by-17 inch piece of paper. See below for further specifications.
Artwork must be received by December 31, 2008. Later submissions will be considered if space is available. Email DunnD1@... if you would like a submission form emailed to you.
How to Submit Art for the Center for Autism Research Art Gallery/ Who May Submit:
Any individual with an autism spectrum disorder, regardless of age, is invited to submit artwork. Each artist is limited to three (3) submissions. Size Requirements: All artwork must be created on an 11-by-17 inch piece of paper - no exceptions!
Drawings or paintings may be produced in crayon, watercolor, acrylic or oil paint, charcoal, colored pencil, indelible marker pen, or felt-tip pen. Computer-generated graphics, collage work involving the use of photocopies, and the use of copyrighted material is not permitted. Three-dimensional work will not be accepted. Artwork must not be framed, mounted, or outlined with any type of border.
Use of Artwork:
Artwork will be displayed in the "gallery" of the Center for Autism Research. (The gallery is the hallway leading up to the Center.) Some works may also be displayed in various public and private places throughout the Center, including the waiting rooms, common areas, offices, and hallways. The Center for Autism Research retains sole discretion in determining where art is displayed. Once submitted, all art becomes the property of The Center for Autism Research and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

By signing above, the artist or parent/guardian acknowledges that, upon
submission, the artwork is the property of the Center for Autism Research (CAR) and
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. CAR retains sole discretion in determining placement of all works of art and retains the right to modify the artwork/artist description accompanying each piece. CAR's goals are to identify the causes of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and develop effective treatments. CAR conducts research studies for infants at risk for being diagnosed with ASD (due to having a sibling already diagnosed) as well as toddlers, school-aged children, and
